The EU chemicals regulatory landscape has evolved into a connected framework that reaches from substances and mixtures to articles, packaging, product sustainability and digital product information. REACH, Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006, remains the central framework for registration, evaluation, authorisation and restriction of chemicals and for the safe use of substances across supply chains. [1] CLP, Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008, provides the EU framework for classification, labelling and packaging of substances and mixtures. It implements hazard communication through classifications, pictograms, signal words, hazard statements, precautionary statements and packaging rules. [2] SCIP adds article-level transparency for Candidate List SVHCs above 0.1 percent weight by weight in articles placed on the EU market. ECHA describes SCIP as a database created under the Waste Framework Directive to make information on substances of concern in articles available across the product life cycle, including at the waste stage. [3][4] ESPR, PPWR and DPP now extend the regulatory landscape toward sustainability, circularity, substances of concern, recyclability, packaging evidence, lifecycle information and machine-readable product data.
